Optional Feedback Data (User Submitted)

When you choose "Send Feedback / Suggest Feature" in Settings, the app sends your feedback to Firebase Firestore so we can improve the app.

What Stays on Your Device

All recordings are stored locally on your device only. We have no access to your recordings.

Local Settings and Preferences Data

To provide app features, Silent Eye stores certain settings locally on your device (for example: app lock enabled state, recording preferences, custom filename prefix, custom folder selection, and thermal protection toggles). This data is used only to operate the app and is not uploaded by us.

Permissions

• Camera: To record video
• Microphone: To record audio (optional)
• Storage (Android 9 and below): To save videos locally on older devices
• Notifications: To show recording status
• Foreground Service: To keep recording running in the background
• Vibrate: To provide haptic feedback for the emergency trigger feature
• Wake Lock: To maintain background volume key detection for the emergency trigger

Feature-Specific Privacy Notes (v1.0.0)

• App Lock: App lock credentials and related security settings are stored on your device and used to protect access to the app UI.
• Storage Forecast: Uses local storage information and your selected quality to estimate recording capacity on-device.
• Thermal Protection: Monitors device thermal state locally and may reduce recording quality automatically to prevent overheating.
• Custom Folder: If you choose a custom save folder, the folder reference/permission is stored on-device so recordings can be written there.
• Custom Names: Your selected filename prefix is stored locally and applied to generated video names.
• Emergency Trigger: When enabled, a background service listens for rapid volume button presses to start recording. No volume or button data is transmitted; detection happens entirely on-device.
• TrustMark Verification: SHA-256 hashes of recorded files are computed and stored locally on-device to verify recording integrity. No hash or verification data is transmitted.

Third-Party Services

Firebase (Google)

Feedback submissions are stored in Firebase Firestore (Google Cloud) to help us review user suggestions and improve app quality. Firebase Analytics is included for basic crash and performance monitoring.

Google AdMob

Silent Eye displays advertisements via Google AdMob, including banner ads and interstitial ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers and ad interaction data.

User Responsibility

Users must comply with all recording laws and obtain necessary consent where required. This app is for lawful use only.

Data Retention and Deletion

Recordings and app settings remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. You can remove recordings from the in-app library and clear app data from Android settings. To request deletion of feedback data stored in our systems, contact us at the email below.

Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy as features evolve. Updated versions will include a revised "Last Updated" date.

Children's Privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
